On May 1, natural gas will be gradually introduced into organized industrial zones.

As of May 1, industrialists in Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) who use less than 300 thousand cubic meters of natural gas throughout the year will be charged on a low-cost 'level-1' price, according to OSBÜK Industry President Memiş Kütükcü. Organized Industrial Zones Upper Organization (OSBÜK) President Memiş Kütükcü said, "Our OSB industrialists, who use natural gas below 300 thousand cubic meters per year, will now be invoiced at a much lower priced 'level-1' tariff, instead of the higher priced 'level-2'." President Kütükcü made statements regarding the steps to be taken in natural gas consumption of industrial facilities producing in Organized Industrial Zones. It has been noted that the OSB industrialists, who use less than 300 thousand cubic meters of natural gas throughout the year, will now be evaluated on the much lower-priced "level-1" tariff instead of the high-priced "level-2". It was stated that this application will start as of May 1. Chairman Kütükcü underlined that because OIZs were seen as a single consumer before, they had to pay their bills at a much higher level-2 rate. 'Instead of 9.4 TL per cubic meter of natural gas, 3.34 TL per cubic meter of natural gas will be paid.' Kütükcü stated that a low-consumption OIZ industrialist had to pay 3.34 lira per cubic meter of natural gas, but was billed at the level-2 tariff of 9.4 liras: "This put our industrialists, which consume low natural gas, at a much more disadvantageous position than the businesses operating outside the OIZ. As OSBÜK, we have been working to eliminate the grievances experienced by our 91 OIZs and industrialists in these OIZs across Turkey, which have been distributing natural gas for a while. With the authorization given, our OIZ regional directorates will now read and report the natural gas consumption of the OIZ industrialists via remote reading systems or declaration. BOTAŞ will also invoice the industrial facilities that consume less than 300 thousand cubic meters of natural gas annually at the 'level-1' price. "
