Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said that an investment of 300 billion euros is planned to accelerate the European Union's transition to clean energy and to end its dependence on Russian gas and oil.

She stated that the European Union, which wants to end energy purchases from Russia, which has attacked the territory of Ukraine, plans to invest 300 billion Euros.
Leyen stated that 10 billion euros of the investments will be spent on natural gas infrastructure, 2 billion euros will be spent on oil and the rest will be spent on clean energy.
Leyen stated that action has been taken not only to get rid of dependency on Russia, but also for energy saving and renewable energy targets, adding that more legally binding bills are also on the table.
Leyen said, “The RePowerEU project will enable us to save more energy and hasten our parting with fossil fuels, but more importantly, it will encourage larger investments. Therefore, I can say that this will be effective in expediting the
European Green Deal.”
