US Government Warned Cryptocurrency Exchanges
US government agencies warned cryptocurrency exchanges. The US warned exchanges against North Korea.
In the statement, it was stated that since 2020, hacker groups supported by the North Korean state have been involved in many cyber attacks and
cryptocurrency exchange hacks, and the following statements were included:
"As the
US government, we have determined that North Korean hackers are targeting companies associated with blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency industry. Targets include exchanges, individual accounts holding large sums of funds, and NFT platforms."
In a joint statement written by 3 institutions, it was stated that after hackers learned about individuals, they deceived them with the promise of high-paying jobs:
"People who have been deceived are often get messages such as a high-paying job offer. After the conversations with the people reach a level, they are sent a link that contains the trap or an application to download to their phones."
As you may remember, last week, the FBI announced that the North Korean Lazarus group was behind the $ 620 million heist in the Ronin network used by the popular game Axie Infinity players.
According to the latest report from blockchain research firm Chainalysis, North Korean hacker groups stole a total of $400 million in digital assets in 2021. As it is known, North Korea is subject to sanctions by most of the world due to its nuclear weapons.
