Energy Statement by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made an energy assessment. Olaf said, "At the moment gas prices are falling again and should fall further. They are too high. If you look at the supply-demand ratio, there is no justification for this. There are still important reductions to be made and we want to realize them together."

At a press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Berlin, Olaf Scholz said: "Indeed, electricity and gas prices need to fall again. We will work together to ensure that the prices, which have risen somewhat absurdly, fall again internationally." Emphasizing that gas prices are high, Scholz said, "At the moment gas prices are falling again and they need to fall further. They are very high. If you look at the supply-demand ratio, there is no justification for this. There are still important reductions to be made and we want to realize them together." Referring to the discussions on the European Union's loan programs in the face of the energy crisis, the Prime Minister said, "We have a huge program of 750 billion euros, most of which has not yet been used, but which could be particularly effective right now. We must keep this in mind when we discuss concrete issues with each other. We are united. Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity are sacred for us. The sham referendums and Russian attempts to annex parts of Ukraine violate international law and have no value. They are null and void for us." https://twitter.com/BloombergHT/status/1577361052219621377 Follow Global Economic Developments on Social Media!
