Ethereum Transaction From An Inactive Wallet After 6.5 Years
There was an Ethereum transaction from an inactive wallet holding about 2,000 ETH after 6.5 years, thus increasing its value by 2500 times.
A wallet which was created in 2015, when
ETH started to be traded for the first time after the ICO in 2014, took action for the first time in 6.5 years.
It is seen that a total of 1947 ETH was transferred to the wallet in question from Cryptsy, the leading cryptocurrency trading platform of the period, in two separate transactions on August 24 and 26, 2015. The wallet owner has not made any transactions for 6.5 years since then. To date, it has distributed 1024 ETH, worth $2.7 million at current prices, by dividing it into five different wallets.
Wallet's Value Increased 2500x
1947
ETH was worth about $2,000 when it entered the wallet in 2015. Today it is worth $5.1 million. The owner, who did not touch the wallet for 6.5 years, thus made a profit of 255000%.
In Ethereum, as in today's example, there were many wallets in Bitcoin that were not touched for a long time, but took action years later. For example, in last December, 1000 BTC was transferred from Bitcoin wallets that have not been touched for 10 years.
Owners of these wallets may have forgotten or lost their passwords, remembered or found years later. Another possibility is that they are very patient hodlers.
