EU lifts travel restrictions for 7 countries
The EU lifts travel restrictions for 7 countries. The
European Union (EU) has updated its list of restrictions.
The European Council announced the final version of the list of countries where the removal of travel restrictions was "recommended", last updated on October 22nd. EU countries, which closed their borders in March due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, also revised the list of countries where travel restrictions were lifted. According to the new list, EU external borders, which were completely closed in March within the scope of epidemic measures, will gradually open to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
If China allows European Union (EU) citizens to travel, the borders will be open to China as well. The restriction on travel to
EU countries for all countries not included in the new list will continue.
In addition, the list in question can be updated depending on the status of the coronavirus epidemic and the measures taken. Accordingly, the UK, which is not included in the list and officially left the EU, will also be restricted by travel after the end of the transition process applied until the end of the year.
In March, in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, the EU imposed restrictions on non-compulsory travel to 27 member countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, which are part of the Schengen area. This list, which does not include any obligation for member countries, stands out as "recommendation".
