EU will allocate a budget to Turkey for Syrians. The EU Commission announced that the budget will be 3 billion Euros by 2024.

At the European Union Summit held on 24-25 June, a decision was taken to allocate a budget of 3 billion Euros to Turkey for Syrian immigrants. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced that the EU will allocate a budget of 3 billion Euros until 2024 for Syrians in Turkey. Von der Leyen said, "The EU will allocate 3 billion Euros to support the Syrians in Turkey. We will continue to support Turkey in this regard. Turkey-EU relations have improved, but more work is needed on trade and updating the Customs Union."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reacted

Regarding the summit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The decisions made at the EU Summit under the title of Turkey are far from containing the expected and necessary steps. The EU's delay in implementing the positive agenda is a delaying tactic, a lack of will and seen as an abuse of EU membership made by one or two member countries.” In the statement made by the Ministry, while referring to the additional funding decision taken regarding the migration agreement, following statements were made: "The new financial aid package is aimed at Syrian refugees, not Turkey, and is essentially a step to be taken to ensure the EU's own peace and security."
