TISK Requested The Continuation Of The Short-Time Working Allowance

TISK requested the continuation of the short-time working allowance. Employers demanded that the short-time working allowance be extended to the end of the year.

Özgür Burak Akkol, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TISK), stated that the negative effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic continue and demanded that the short-time working allowance be continued until the end of the year. The short-time working allowance, which was started in April 2020 to prevent employment loss during the coronavirus epidemic, ended on March 31. The regulation was later extended until June 30 and the said revision was published in the official gazette. Daily short-time working allowance is calculated by taking into account the insured employees earnings as a basis for premium for the last twelve months. The short-time working allowance, which is calculated as 60 percent of the average daily gross earnings, cannot exceed 150 percent of the gross amount of the monthly minimum wage. According to this calculation, with the increase in January, the short-time working allowance increased to 2 thousand 530 TL for the minimum wage, while the maximum amount of the short-time working allowance was 5.325 TL.
