European Stock Markets Fall
European stock markets fell sharply over 3% on concerns about the spread of coronavirus.
On the Stoxx 600 index, losses passed 3%. The index thus dipped to its lowest levels this year.
Travel shares led those declines. In the UK, the FTSE 100 Index is down 2.6%, in Germany the DAX 3.1%, in France the CAC 40 is down 3.4%, and in Spain, the IBEX 35 Index is down 3.1%.
Charlie Morris, of Atlantic House Fund Management, said: "at the beginning of the year, we expected the upturn to last, but it didn't. We don't think the UK and European markets are defensive markets,"
US stock markets were also down more than 3% yesterday on concerns about the virus in the fourth trading day of the week. Today, the daily decline in S & P 500 futures is up 2%.
