Fuel sales increased before the new quarantine in Turkey. Fuel sales rose 25 percent before the 17-day quarantine.
As travel increased before the 17-day quarantine, which was announced within the framework of combating the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, fuel sales also increased by 25 percent on a daily basis.
It is known that the average daily gasoline sales in Turkey are 8-10 million liters and diesel sales are at the around 55-60 million liters. These numbers jump in times when travel will increase, such as holidays.
According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent from the
Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) data, the fact that many citizens left big cities and traveled to spend the quarantine process in their hometowns or in places such as hotels caused an average of 25 percent increase in fuel sales.
According to the data, on April 28 (Wednesday), diesel sales reached 73.5 million and gasoline sales reached approximately 12 million liters due to intensified travels.
76.5 million liters of diesel were sold on April 29 (Thursday), one day before the quarantine started. Gasoline sales were recorded as 13.6 million liters. As a result of these data, it was seen that the amount of fuel sold in one day exceeded 90 million liters.
