At the joint press conference he held with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Store stated that 20 percent of Europe's natural gas needs are met by Norway.

Giving the assurance that they will continue to provide at maximum capacity, Store said, "Actually, we have exceeded our capacity at the moment. We will continue to maintain our solidarity with our allies under predictable conditions."

Store also emphasized that his country is the only country that provides energy to Europe within the continent.

European Union (EU) countries import 90 percent of the natural gas they use. More than a third of the gas is purchased from Russia.

European countries want to reduce their energy dependence on Russia due to the recent crisis that emerged after Russia's actions against Ukraine.

Finally, Germany stopped the licensing process of the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project from Russia in response to Russia's decision to recognize the so-called administration of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission, said that in the crisis with Russia, it has become clear that they are too dependent on Russian gas and that they need to diversify their suppliers and invest heavily in renewable energy.
