Microsoft Corp. will update its product developed to find and track security vulnerabilities in cloud computing structures to support Alphabet Inc.'s Google Cloud Platform.

As of Wednesday, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, which started to support Amazon Web Services three months ago, will also include Google Cloud (GC) as of Wednesday.

It was developed using open source programming languages in order to provide cyber security services to Microsoft GC and AWS cloud platforms, which own the rival Azure platform.

Increasingly, users have begun to use multiple cloud platforms and programs to ensure their security. In addition to these giants, the programs released by cyber security companies have reached such a high number that it is stated that experts have difficulty following the products.

In an interview, Vasu Jakkal, Microsoft's vice president of security, drew attention to the fact that hackers can target border points between different cybersecurity programs.

In an environment where cyber attacks are increasing, it is stated that Microsoft hopes to make protection stronger and simpler.

Drawing attention to the difficulty of working in this way, Vasu Jakkal said, "Today, many of our customers use Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud alongside Azure, and they have different workloads. Therefore, a different security solution is used for each one. Imagine the situation of the experts sitting in the Security Operations Center and watching the security alarms on the glass panel. They have to deal with at least 3 different programs, if not more."

Jakkal says that Microsoft does not work directly with competitors to protect the product, emphasizing that they see an area where the firm is generally willing to work with its competitors to protect common customers in the security space. In a recent Microsoft survey, business owners stated that "managing multiple cloud services will be their biggest challenge in 2022."

Microsoft is trying to strengthen its security software business by tracking attacks and providing support to its customers. The software giant bought several small-scale security companies last year and announced that it had reached $15 billion in 2021 security software sales figures announced last month. This figure corresponds to a 45 percent increase compared to the previous year.
