Hacker Who Stole $114 Million Reveals His Identity; Avraham Eisenberg!
Avraham Eisenberg, the hacker who stole $114 million from Mango Markets, announced that he organized the attack on the DeFi platform.
While Avraham Eisenberg left the question about the size of his team unanswered, he made the following statements:
"I was part of a team that executed a highly profitable trading strategy last week. I believe that all of our actions were legitimate open market actions, using the protocol as designed, even if the development team did not fully anticipate all the consequences of adjusting the parameters as they are."
Hacker Eisenberg invested
$10 million in Mango Markets and withdrew $114 million
This legitimate trading strategy took place when Eisenberg spent $114 million to siphon $10 million from Mango Markets.
This "trade" worked by manipulating the price oracle to triple the Mango
token price from $0.30 to $0.91. This increased the value of Eisenberg's collateral, allowing him and his team to receive more funding from the protocol.
The hacker's name was only associated with the attack a day later. Independent reporter Chris Burnet announced an article providing some evidence linking Eisenberg to the attack.
The evidence included leaked screenshots of Discord chats describing the planned attack and suspicious activity on the chain following the incident.
Eisenberg was also accused earlier this year of defrauding FortressDAO investors of $14 million.
