Half a Billion People Traveled In China!
Half a billion people traveled in China. China's economic recovery steps, which seem to have survived the coronavirus, also yielded results.
Half a billion people traveling during the Golden Week holiday in China revealed that the country survived the Coronavirus. China, where the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic started, seems to have largely controlled the epidemic. So much so that, according to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 425 million people traveled domestically in the first four days of the one-week holiday that started on October 1. The numbers reached almost 80 percent of 2019.
Unlike other countries,
China is experiencing a rapid economic recovery. While the global tourism industry is estimated to lose at least $ 1.2 trillion in 2020, the
OECD expects the Chinese economy to grow by 1.8 percent as of September. These forecasts make China the only country that is expected to grow among the G-20 countries.
The thoughts that China's harsh quarantine practices prevented a new wave make the country appear in a positive situation. However, millions of people travel within the country undetected and without a quarantine rule. On the other hand, the fact that China opened its borders to foreigners with valid residence permits last month further increases the risks.
Nicholas Thomas, health safety professor at City University of Hong Kong, says:
“It is undoubtedly risky to let tourism continue. In some ways it's an early rehearsal of what the rest of the world will do next year as global travel resumes. ''
While no local virus infections have been reported in the country since August, two asymptomatic cases were detected in September. The Chinese government has ended almost all of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) bans and restrictions.
The ban on group tours was lifted in July. Nowadays, cities in all regions of China are in the low-risk category and no test results are observed on interstate trips.
