Hard Brexit is still real, there is only few weeks left to reach an agreement
Despite "real progress" on several important issues in trade negotiations with Britain, it is not possible to say whether there will be an agreement in the end.
The President of the European Commission,
Ursula von der Leyen, said this on Wednesday in the European Parliament.
Negotiations between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom have been stalled for months.
The head of the Commission told the legislators that the negotiators had taken a big step towards building police and judicial cooperation, as well as in the field of social security.
"Even in the case of goods, services and transport, we have an outline of a possible final text," she said.
"However, there are still three problematic issues that make the difference between
Brexit with and without agreement," she said, adding that it was the extent of compliance with EU social and environmental standards in Britain, how disputes were resolved and fisheries.
