Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca warns citizens in the days when Covid cases are increasing. Koca said, “We see that there is an increasing number of cases in our country. With the increase in the number of cases, the hospital load does not increase at the same rate. The number of cases has now increased up to 40 times daily.”
Speaking about the fight against Covid-19, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca noted that cases are increasing and caution should be exercised. In his statement on the question of journalists after the presidential Cabinet Meeting, Koca, who stated that Turkey started to see the Covid-19 wave in Europe 4-5 weeks ago, mentioned the following points:
"We see that we have an increasing number of cases. With the increase in the number of cases, the hospital load does not increase at the same rate. The number of cases has now increased up to 40 times daily. The hospital load has increased by 3 times. In that sense, we can easily say that we do not have a serious hospital load. We see that these increases are not significant and serious in intensive care units. We can easily say that the increase is not at the same rate.
We also insist that people who are at risk, over the age of 50, with chronic diseases and additional diseases should wear their masks in crowded environments as always. I would like our citizens who want to be vaccinated to care about getting the TURKOVAC vaccine. Our local vaccine is very effective. We are satisfied with the results. Let's be sensitive in TURKOVAC preference and recommendation.
We know that if we are at risk in crowded environments, we should wear the mask, if we have symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection, we already know that we should wear the mask in order not to infect others. If there is a symptom, people who are at risk should have their tests done in the early period, and if they are positive, then if they have an additional disease, they may start taking medication.
Therefore, we have medicines and vaccines. We have learned to live with Covid by following personal precautions. Is Covid over? Will it end? It will not. Think of it like influenza. In the recent period, its symptoms have been flu-like. It is mostly characterized by sore throat, runny nose and fever, and we also see muscle aches.
It is developing like a severe influenza picture. But in those with additional diseases, these symptoms are more pronounced and can lead to hospitalization. Therefore, we need to be a little more careful.
There is no panic mood, but we know how to live with Covid by continuing to take precautions from now on. We all know where to wear masks and where to protect ourselves. There will be no re-closure and similar situations. We have the vaccine, we have the medicine, we continue to take precautions.''
