Incentive Package Negotiations Continue in USA
Incentive package negotiations continue in the USA. The new package consists of two parts.
President of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, US Senate Majority Leader Republican Mitch McConnell, House of Representatives Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are continuing negotiations on an approximately $ 900 billion stimulus package designed to counter the negative effects of the coronavirus outbreak.
According to the news in Bloomberg, a representative who is aware of the incentive package stated that the incentive scheme could include $ 17 billion in aid to airlines. Sources familiar with the talks said that the incentive package scheme would include $ 600 payments to individuals and $ 300 per week unemployment insurance payments. However, it was reported that the provisions to be made to state and local governments and the articles that would protect the employers from the lawsuits that could be opened after the pandemic were removed from the draft.
If this stimulus package is combined with the budget bill to fund the government and is not voted on until Friday, a temporary measure will be needed to prevent the partial government shutdown.
Incentive Package Consists of Two Parts
The final version of the
package, which has been discussed for a long time between Republicans and Democrats, was announced earlier this week. The package in the bill consisted of two parts. The first part of the bill, which includes support for small-scale companies of about $ 300 billion, includes extending the duration of unemployment benefits of $ 300 per week and aid for the distribution of vaccines.
There are two items in the second part. This clause stands out as an item that protects employers against lawsuits that can be filed after the pandemic, as Democrats demanded $ 160 billion in state aid and Republicans demand.
It will be up to the Democrat and Republican leaders in Congress that one or two of the aforementioned chapters pass before the end of the period of incentives before the House of Representatives and the Senate.
