Inflation Statement from Minister Nabati. Commenting on inflation data on his personal Twitter account, Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati stated that inflation has entered a downward trend and said, "Inflation figures reveal that the rate of inflation has slowed down."
Comparing the April and May data, Nebati used the following statements in the continuation:
“Inflation figures announced today reveal that the increase in inflation has slowed down. The monthly CPI increase rate, which was 7.25 percent in April, realized as 2.98 percent in May, and inflation entered a downward trend.
High increases in international commodity prices, especially food and energy, triggered by the global epidemic and war environment, and some disruptions in supply chains play a fundamental role in inflation increases in our country, as in all other countries of the world.
We continue our efforts uninterruptedly in order to ensure that our citizens are least affected by price increases through the policies we implement, administered-directed prices, tax reductions and subsidies, with these efforts the easing in inflation continues.
In the upcoming period, with the effect of favorable climatic conditions, we anticipate that the increase in our agricultural production will positively support the easing in inflation.
In addition, with the additional steps we will take, on the one hand, we will prevent price increases that affect the daily lives of our people, and on the other hand, we will continue to prevent the rapid decline in income levels by increasing incomes.
The fight against inflation will continue to be our first priority in the upcoming period. We will never allow our citizens to be crushed under the pressure of inflation!”
