Talks regarding the nuclear agreement in Vienna began to get complicated as
Iran missed the deadline to renew the nuclear monitoring pact.
The Iranian government has said it will decide whether to renew the deal after it expires. The deal is said to collect enrichment data while videotaping Iran's nuclear facilities.
Iran had previously announced that it would extend the agreement 24 hours after the last renewal date. The inspections carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency (
IAEA) as part of the monitoring agreement were considered the most important part of the nuclear agreement signed in 2015. After former US President Donald Trump ceased the deal, Iran had gradually increased enrichment.
Iran, which has imposed restrictions on the IAEA's monitoring activities since February, has threatened to permanently delete all data related to its nuclear work if some of the sanctions are not lifted.
For weeks, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi stated that the monitoring pact should be extended. Grossi said, if it is not extended, understanding regarding Iran's nuclear program may be damaged.
