Irish Prime Minister Evaluates Brexit Talks
Irish Prime Minister evaluates the
Brexit talks. Prime Minister Micheal Martin said the chances of a deal are 50 percent.
Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin evaluated the long-running Brexit negotiations between the European Union (EU) and the UK, which have always hit a deadlock. According to the report of the British Financial Times, Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin used the definition of "knife edge" for Brexit talks, saying that the probability of reaching an agreement is "50-50%".
However, some different sources stated that there was hope in some of the important problems that brought the talks to an impasse. Speaking to Bloomberg, sources on the matter came close to an agreement on the article regulating EU access to UK waters in fishing. The issue of equalizing the competition in the trade regime between the two sides does not seem to be solved yet.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, who gave instructions for the resumption of talks last week, will discuss the point reached on Monday.
Britain will leave the
European Union (EU) on December 31, with or without an agreement. Therefore, all problems that prevented a trade deal by December 31st need to be resolved this week.
