Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu Calls for Extraordinary Meeting of Parliament
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "I invite the Parliament to hold an extraordinary meeting to enact a law on combating violence. Instead of 'looking sad', if you are really sad, let's deal with this issue immediately."
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu called for an extraordinary meeting of the Parliament after Cardiology Specialist Dr. Ekrem Karakaya was shot dead by a security guard at the hospital where he worked in Konya.
CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu made the following statements on social media:
"I invite the Parliament to hold an extraordinary meeting to enact a law to combat violence. Instead of "looking sad", if you are really sad, let's deal with this issue immediately. Let's pass the Bakırtaş-Karakaya Violence Prevention Law. Now!"
Following the murder of Karakaya yesterday, Kılıçdaroğlu wrote on his official twitter account,
"Erdoğan, see the climate you have created, shame on you! Take your incompetent minister and leave immediately. This is the price you pay for keeping silent about the perpetrators of violence and saying 'let them go if they want to go' to the health personnel who demand their rights. They will stay, you will leave. This violence will either end or end!"
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said,
"I refer to the conscience of our nation these words that do not contain an iota of sadness in the face of the murder of a physician. Our hearts are burning, Mr. Kemal. Couldn't you look even a little sad?"
