Jolly Chairman Mete Vardar: ''There was a 60-70 percent price increase''
Mete Vardar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jolly, stated that there was a 60-70 percent price increase in hotel prices this season compared to last season and that there will not be much increase in prices in this summer period.
Mete Vardar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jolly, made evaluations about the tourism sector in the program he attended. Vardar noted that the fact that the holiday was 9 days and announced about 15 days in advance made the sector, tradesmen and travel agencies even more pleased. Stating that the faces of the tourism sector are smiling, Vardar used the following expressions in his evaluation: ''We think that approximately 1 million people will travel with travel agencies only during this holiday. The average number of nights increased from 3 nights to 6 nights and the intensity was reflected in general, we are happy and joyful. Approximately 10 million people in Turkey are traveling with travel agencies and if we can increase the market capacity to 30 million, we can overcome such troubled times in a better way. Especially our hoteliers understood the importance of the domestic market much better this year. There are costs that have increased almost over one hundred percent. If normal costs had been reflected, this would have been reflected in prices by over one hundred percent. We make 12 installments, we don't charge interest, so traveling with travel agencies is more advantageous for our guests. Of course, we need to spread this to a wider audience. Considering that one out of every three tourists coming to Turkey comes from Russia and Ukraine, 3 million people will come from Russia again, despite the fact that we are unfortunately facing a war situation in that region, 7-8 million tourists were coming from there in normal times. There is a target of 43 million tourists and 35 billion dollars, so I think the capacity from other regions will also increase. Unfortunately, I cannot say that April - May was good, but if we look at the overall figures, we can reach these figures. Now, in early booking, we sold a thousand lira hotel for 500 lira and we could not reflect the costs and somehow we covered these costs ourselves. The tourism sector creates resources for 52 sectors, so our state needs to make programs in the medium and long term and create resources for the sector. Prices have already increased, there will not be much increase in the summer period, but there will be a decrease in campaigns. Especially in August because it is a busy month...Now the season has been extended to September-October and it is possible to have a vacation at prices 50 percent lower. I think it would be much better if we could extend the season to 12 months. Our foreign currency inflow per tourist was around 670 dollars, now it is up to 720 dollars.
