From 1918 to Today; Resat Gold Will Be Minted Again
What is Resat gold, which was decided to be reissued exactly 104 years later? Ahmet Güven, Deputy General Manager of the Mint, answered the questions.
The Rasat gold, known as the gold coin, which was printed to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Sultan Reşad's ascension to the throne, was replaced by Republican gold because it was very scarce in the market.
Ahmet Güven Pado, General Manager of the Mint, explained why the minting was started again.
The minting of Resat gold, a first in the history of the Republic, took its place in the mints again after 104 years. Ahmet Güven Pado answered the questions with the following statements:
Why is Resat gold being minted again?
''Resat gold, which we would define as original, is very rare. Instead, there are unregistered Resat gold produced domestically and abroad. Citizens are victimized. In order to prevent this victimization, we offered the public the opportunity to buy Resat gold by printing it.''
What is the difference of Resat gold from others?
''On the front side there will be, Sultan Reşat's tughra, the Reşat inscription, 7 stars representing Anatolia and the provinces in the region. There is a crown made of laurel, a structure consisting of torches on both sides, and when we look at the back side, there is an inscription that the Reşat gold was minted in Istanbul.''
Will it be minted every year? Or will there be a certain number?
''It will be minted regularly every year, but there is a special interest in Resat gold. The Mint made such a request in order to offer this interest to the public in the right way. Malicious people started to put low-caliber imitations of Resat gold on the market. Both citizens and jewelers were being victimized. There was an intense demand. As a result of our efforts, the General Directorate of Mint welcomed our request. Resat gold coins were reissued with the original mold. I would like to announce this to our artisans here. They can come to our Mint on July 18th after the feast, give their gold, get their Resat gold and present it to our citizens."
