Lagarde Wants Incentive Package to be Implemented Immediately
European Central Bank Governor Christine Lagarde wants the incentive package to be implemented immediately. Speaking at the European parliament, Lagarde stated that the fiscal stimulus package should be implemented urgently.
Speaking in the European parliament, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde called on countries not to leave their financial aid measures to the last minute.
She said, “We responded strongly and quickly to the first wave that hit the eurozone economy. We will respond to the current stage of the crisis with the same approach and determination.” and noted that weak demand indicates the need for continued fiscal incentives.
Stating that European policy makers should continue to aid the economy and act as a bridge until progress is made in vaccination activities,
Lagarde pointed out that the Emergency Asset Procurement Program (PEPP) and guided long-term financial operations will continue to be used as the main instruments.
