Loss in the stock market reaches 5%, circuit breaker applied

While the daily loss in BIST 100 index exceeded 5%, it reached 9% in BIST Banks and a circuit breaker was applied in the stock market.

The Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) announced that a circuit breaker was applied in many stocks and transactions were suspended in some stocks due to unusual price/quantity movements. Borsa Istanbul announced that after the circuit breaker, transactions will continue with the closing session at 18.01, while transactions in VIOP will start at 18.08.

Latest situation in leading indices

Banks led the decline in the stock market with 9%, while BIST Technology, BIST Telecommunications, BIST Transportation and BIST Chemicals, Petroleum & Plastics were the leading indices that fell the most. BIST Sports and BIST Electricity were the indices that diverged positively before the trading halt. Banking stocks fell the most

  • Aselsan Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (ASELS),
  • Garanti Bank of Turkey (GARAN),
  • Halkbank of Turkey (HALKB),
  • İş Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş. (ISGYO),
  • Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası T.A.O. (VAKBN),
Şekerbank T.A.Ş. (SKBNK). The banking index lost 35% in the last one-week transactions and erased all its gains after August 25.
