Turkish markets fall at the close; BIST 100 loses 5.26%

Turkish stock markets fell after the close on Monday, with shares in the Banking, Telecommunications and Transportation sectors falling.

At the close of the Istanbul stock exchange, BIST 100 lost 5.26%. Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (IS:ZOREN), which is traded below BIST 100 and exhibited the best performance of the session, is trading at 3.28, up 4.46% or 0.14 points. Meanwhile, Alarko Holding A.Ş. (IS:ALARK) is trading at 60.80, up 3.23% or 1.90 points, while Aydem Yenilenebilir Enerji AS (IS:AYDEM) is trading at 15.06, up 3.08% or 0.45 points. Aselsan Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (IS:ASELS), the worst performer of the session, closed at 30.42, down 10.00% or 3.38 points. Türkiye Halk Bankası (IS:HALKB) fell 9.96% or 0.99 points to trade at 8.95 while Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.Ş. (IS:PETKM) lost 9.96% or 1.39 points to trade at 12.56. The number of stocks that lost value on the Istanbul Stock Exchange was 361, while the number of stocks that gained value was 108. In addition, 13 stocks remained stable. Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (IS:ZOREN) shares gained 4.46% or 0.14 to an all-time high of 3.28. Alarko Holding A.S. (IS:ALARK) shares gained 3.23% or 1.90% to an all-time high of 60.80. Aydem Yenilenebilir Enerji AS (IS:AYDEM) shares gained 3.08% or 0.45 to an all-time high of 15.06. Gold Futures for December delivery lost 0.20% or 3.45% to trade at $1.00 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, November-dated Crude Oil WTI Futures are trading at $84.86 a barrel, up 0.12% or 0.10%. Meanwhile, Brent Oil Futures for November delivery are trading at $91.42 a barrel, up 0.08% or 0.07. USD/TRY is trading up 0.09% at 18.28 while EUR/TRY is trading up 0.05% at 18.29.
