Rostec General Manager Sergey Chemezov, during his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said, "We took off our aircraft for the first time in December last year. Starting from this year and throughout 2023, this aircraft with domestically made wings and engines will be tested."
Stating that they are planning to start the mass production of passenger aircraft with a US-made engine this year, Chemezov said, "Mass production of the MS-21, which consists entirely of domestically made components, will begin in 2024."
Chemezov reported that the
Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane will also consist of completely domestically-made components in 2024.
The mid-range passenger aircraft MS-21 consists of two models with a seat capacity of 163 to 211. Its main feature is that it has a wing produced using composite materials developed in Russia due to the sanctions imposed by the USA.
The MS-21 made its first
test flight last December.
