Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank made statements at Teknofest. Regarding the SCT increase in electric vehicles, Minister Varank said, "It had a foot for imported luxury cars. Unfortunately, there were those who tried to bring luxury cars to Turkey at more affordable prices, a move towards it." Varank, who said that they designed their tax applications both by considering the economic needs of the country and paving the way for the sectors, continued his words as follows: “Whether it's VAT or SCT, you know, we made very serious discounts during the pandemic period. In this context, our Ministry of Treasury and Finance neither wants to block the sector nor does it want very luxurious imported cars to be sold in Turkey. There are studies on revising these practices in the coming periods in a way to achieve this balance.”
