The
New York stock exchange started the first trading day of the week with a drop in concerns about the
coronavirus outbreak.
At the opening, the Dow Jones index lost about
988 points and traded at
28.004.19 points, down
3.41 percent.
The S&P 500 index started trading at 3,231.61 points, down 3.18 percent, and the Nasdaq index fell 4.22 percent, at 9.172.81 points.
Analysts state that the increase in the number of cases in the new type of
coronavirus outbreak spread from
China caused a sharp decline in the indices.
While deaths continue in China due to the epidemic, the increase in the number of cases in other countries, especially in
Italy,
South Korea and Iran, causes an increase in concerns that the global economy will be adversely affected.
