Next week’s economy calendar will be intensive. Next week, growth, inflation and export figures will be announced.
While the growth figures for the first quarter of the year will be announced on Monday, May 31, inflation and export figures for May will be announced the same week.
The
Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) will announce the gross domestic product (GDP) data for the January-March period on Monday, May 31, at 10 am.
Inflation Figures Will Be Important
Other data that will be in the focus of the market next week will be
inflation and export figures.
The Ministry of Commerce will announce temporary foreign trade data for May on Wednesday, June 2nd. The data is expected to be announced by the Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş. In April, exports were at $18.8 billion with an increase of 109 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while the highest April export figure of all time and the second highest monthly export of all years were made.
Another important data will be unemployment figures. TurkStat, which started to announce unemployment figures based on independent monthly forecasts instead of quarterly moving averages, will report April's labor force statistics on Thursday, June 10.
Unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 points to 13.1 percent in March, and increased by 0.1 points to 12.9 percent in the January-March period.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance will announce the budget realizations for the month of May on June 15.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Monetary Policy Committee meeting will held on June 18. In its last meeting, the Board kept the one-week repo auction rate, which is the policy rate, at 19 percent. The Central Bank will also announce the balance of payments data for April on June 14.
