Nissan will stop production in two domestic plants for two days
The delay in supplies was caused by the earthquake.
Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor announced on Thursday that it will stop production at two of its domestic plants for two days next week due to delays in the delivery of components in connection with the earthquake that struck northeastern Japan last week.
A 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit Saturday off the coast of
Fukushima, northern Japan, injuring hundreds of people and causing extensive power outages.
The automaker's plants in Oppama and Shonan, located in Kanagawa Prefecture, will stop production on February 22 and 23, a
Nissan spokeswoman said. Nissan did not disclose which components were missing.
Nissan is the second Japanese carmaker to be hit by problems after the earthquake. On Tuesday, Japan's largest automaker, Toyota, announced that it would temporarily stop production at nearly a dozen plants in Japan due to delays in the delivery of some components after the earthquake.
