Number of Companies in the DAX Index Increased
The number of companies in the
German DAX index increased. It has been announced that the number of companies in the index will be increased from 30 to 40 with stricter rules.
In the statement made by
Deutsche Boerse, it was reported that the largest and most reliable public companies are traded after September 2021 and the number of companies will be increased from 30 to 40 in the DAX index, which is the indicator of the stock market.
It was stated that the number of companies in the MDAX index, which is the index of medium-sized companies, will be reduced from 60 to 50.
After the billion dollar accounting scandal of the German payment systems company Wirecard AG, companies that will be traded on the DAX index are waiting for stricter rules.
According to the said rules, the shares of companies that do not disclose their financial results at the specified time will not be allowed to be traded on the index. However, in the future, only demonstrably profitable companies will find their way into DAX.
In order to become a member of the DAX index after December this year, companies will need to announce operating profit in their last 2 financial reports before they were included in the index.
Making an assessment on the subject, it was noted that this change in the DAX index was the biggest change in the history of the index, which was launched in 1988.
