Objection has been made to the Bitcoin law in
El Salvador. El Salvador had shook the market by accepting Bitcoin as a legal currency on June 8. A lawmaker from the country's opposition party and some citizens filed suit against the law.
In El Salvador, a lawmaker from the opposition party and a group of citizens filed a lawsuit against the Bitcoin law, on the grounds that it was against the law.
According to the news compiled by El Mundo, one of Spain's important newspapers; Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMNL) party MP Jaime Guevara, united with some citizens and opposed the law in question.
“To Empty People's Pockets...”
A person named Oscar Artero, who is in the citizen group that filed a lawsuit together with Guevara, made evaluations on the subject. Artero stated that when President Bukele enacted this law, he did not think about the damage to the country and that's why they filed a lawsuit. At the press conference held on the subject, Artero said the following:
“The fact that Bitcoin is not taxed is a situation designed to empty people's pockets. They want to force people to trade. I hope the Supreme Court will hold the same view as us.”
Bukele Dismissed Judges
On the other hand, experts state that it is very difficult for the Supreme Court, the country's highest legal authority, to sign a decision opposing Bukele.
As it is known, President of El Salvador,
Nayib Bukele, dismissed 5 judges and replaced them in a short time, citing the measures taken in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic in May. This move of Bukele caused a serious reaction.
In the coming period, the issue of Bitcoin is expected to come to the fore in Nigeria, Panama and Paraguay.
