Parking A Tesla in Chinese government buildings is forbidden! Chinese officials were split over Tesla cars parked in public buildings.
Some officials working in Chinese government offices have been warned not to park
Tesla vehicles inside government premises. According to Reuters, such a warning was needed due to security concerns regarding cameras in Tesla cars.
Two government officials in Beijing and Shanghai were warned by their managers not to park their Tesla.
According to the information in the report, it is not known whether all government offices in Beijing apply such restrictions, and it is not known how many cars were affected by this decision.
Alleged Spying By Tesla
Tesla's Beijing unit reported in April that the cameras were not activated on cars manufactured outside of North America, in its statement regarding the allegations.
Explaining that car owners in the USA also decide whether to activate the cameras or not, the company underlined that they use a world-leading network security system to protect the privacy of users.
After Bloomberg reported last month that Tesla cars were banned from Chinese army facilities and lodgings due to concerns that cameras might collect data, Elon Musk had to make a statement on the company's attitude towards cameras.
