The English Premier League (EPL) announced that it has filed two NFT and metaverse-focused trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The first official statement on the subject came from licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

After Kondoudis, EPL also made a written statement. The English Premier League made the following statement:
“The Premier League is regularly watched by over a billion people, so the value placed on the brand is important. These submissions represent a logical step to protect the brand in today's economy and metadatabase with virtual and crypto elements in the virtual economy of tomorrow.”
The English Premier League's application signaled that it will also step into other sectors such as NFTs, cryptocurrencies, digital collectibles, digital trading cards, virtual shoes, apparel, hats and sportswear.
