President Tayyip Erdogan; “The Target in Trade with Venezuela is 3 Billion Dollars”
"We aim to increase our trade volume with Venezuela to 3 billion dollars as soon as possible," President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the press conference.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro made important statements at the press conference they attended. President Erdoğan began his speech by saying, "In front of my dear friend, we can never forget the strong solidarity displayed by the Venezuelan people with our nation on July 15." Underlining that Venezuela was one of the first countries to support their government after the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, Erdoğan said, “We showed the whole world that the friendship between Turkey and Venezuela is a true friendship of a 'black day' and is a manifestation of such a friendship. My dear friend, just like Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez, he has his name written in gold letters in his country's struggle for independence. Mr. Maduro's stance on the Palestinian issue is also admirable. On this occasion, I congratulate him once again." Erdogan used the following statements about the details of the meeting: “In the meetings we held today, we discussed all aspects of our bilateral relations. We have gladly observed that our will to further our cooperation is mutual. There is a wide cooperation potential between Venezuela and our country in many fields, especially in trade, energy, mining, contracting, health, agriculture and tourism. The complementary nature of our economies provides new opportunities for cooperation and various opportunities for mutual investments. Our trade volume, which was at the level of 150 million dollars in 2019, doubled in 2020 and almost tripled last year, reaching the level of 850 million dollars. Current figures indicate that we can easily reach 1 billion dollars this year. Our goal is to increase this figure to 3 billion dollars as soon as possible. With the memorandum of understanding signed today, we have further strengthened the legal infrastructure of our relations. To date, we have hosted 76 Venezuelan young in our country as part of Turkey Scholarships. We hope to increase this number even more in the coming years. Our activities in this field will intensify as soon as our Yunus Emre Institute opens a cultural center in Caracas. TIKA has carried out nearly 20 projects in Venezuela, mainly in fields such as education, agriculture and health. Likewise, it will establish its center in Caracas together with Yunus Emre Institude. Turkish Airlines acts as a bridge between us by organizing 7 flights a week on the Istanbul-Caracas route.”İLGİLİ HABERLER
