Problems Grow in Bulgaria, the Entry Point for Fruit and Vegetable Exports

TIM Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Sector Board Member Berdan Ber made important statements on exports and the situation at the borders of Bulgaria. Ber stated that there were great difficulties in entering Bulgaria, which is the first common market entry point. He underlined that there is currently a risk of nearly 100 million dollars of products being wasted at the border gate.

Berdan Ber, a member of the TIM Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Sector Board, said about the export problems: "Due to the fact that the government has had to change three times in the last year, the problems experienced at the entrances are increasing. An institution assigned by the government in the past period is slowing down the entry of all food products with health certificates from our country into the common market or causing different problems due to the removal of its powers." Underlining that there is a big problem at the Bulgarian border, Berdan Ber commented on the situation: "In the normal process, all food products going to the European Union must undergo international health checks at the first entry point to the common market. This has not been possible since Monday."
