Quarantine in Germany Will be Extended to February 14
Quarantine in
Germany will be extended to February 14. Prime Minister Merkel reached an agreement with the provincial leaders.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and state leaders agreed on Tuesday to extend the closure of many shops and schools, which were the measures taken against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, until February 14.
Although new infections have declined recently and intensive care units have started to calm down, experts on the subject fear that more infectious strains of the virus will spread.
The Federal Government of Germany emphasized the need to improve assistance to companies due to the extension, and informed that a working group will be established to deal with this issue.
Michael Mueller, Mayor of Berlin, said the following on the subject:
“The infection numbers have been dropping or stagnating for a few weeks, and this is good, but now we are facing a very aggressive mutation that we have to respond to. One method would be to increase work from home.”
