"Reciprocity" Step from China to USA
The "reciprocity" step was taken from China to the USA. Chinese legislators approved the control law on the export of certain products to protect national security.
The Chinese government approved a new law on Saturday to limit sensitive exports to protect national security. Accordingly, the Beijing administration responded to the US under the principle of reciprocity with the escalation of tension in the field of technology.
According to the report compiled by the state-owned CCTV, China's highest legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, approved this restriction to be applied to all companies in China, including foreign investments.
The deterioration of the relations between China and the USA during the epidemic led Washington to impose sanctions against some Chinese organizations such as
Huawei Technologies Co, ByteDance Ltd's
TikTok application, Tancent Holding Ltd's WeChat and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. The new law provides a better response for the Beijing administration.
While China's current checklist is rather narrow compared to that of the United States, the country's trade ministry underwent a law change in August covering technology such as algorithms and drones. The list could be even broader to include more products and technologies.
