Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his new year message, said, “We are in the preparations for reform that will strengthen our economy, raise the bar of our democracy, rights and freedom. Hopefully, with the new year, we will present our comprehensive reform programs to the discretion of our nation.” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published a New Year message on the last day of 2020, which was a year of disaster. Making statements about the economy in his message, Erdoğan drew attention to coronavirus support. Erdogan said, “We have commissioned many support and aid packages in order to alleviate the economic troubles caused by the epidemic. The amount of cash support we have transferred to our nation within the framework of social protection shield has approached 45.5 billion lira.” Including evaluations on the reform agenda in his message, Erdogan said, "We see the 6.7 percent growth rate we achieved in the third quarter as a sign of both our efforts, our country's success in this process and its strong potential in the new period. It will strengthen our economy, our democracy, we are in the preparation step for a reform that will raise the bar for freedom. Hopefully, with the new year, we will present our comprehensive reform programs, which we have made the last arrangements, to the discretion of our nation. The President also reminded the ongoing work on energy and said, “We hope to get good news from the drilling works we carry out in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
