Retail Prices in Istanbul Increased by 15.05 Percent
Retail prices in Istanbul rose by 15.05 percent. Thus, inflation reached its highest level in the last 17 months.
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce shared quarry data on the Istanbul Wage Earners Index, which is an indicator of retail price movements. Accordingly, retail prices in
Istanbul increased by 15.05 percent. The data in question was recorded as the highest level since August 2019.
According to the data of ITO based on 1995, the Istanbul Wage Earning Index, which is the indicator of retail price movements in Istanbul compared to the same month of 2020, was 15.05 percent in January, while the Wholesale Price Index, which shows the wholesale price movements, was recorded as 17.75 percent in this period.
According to the data announced by ITO in the previous month, retail prices increased by 1.16 percent in January compared to the previous month, while wholesale prices increased by 1.31 percent.
Retail prices, compared to the previous month, were 9.92 percent in health and personal care, 4.79 percent in transportation and communication, 2.36 percent in household goods, 1.23 percent in housing, 0.68 percent in food and 0 percent in other expenses. 26 and culture saw an increase of 0.02 percent in education and entertainment. In the same period, retail prices decreased by 4.09 percent in clothing.
In January 2021, compared to the previous month, the wholesale prices were 4.25 percent in the fuel and energy group, 1.42 percent in the textile group, 1.11 percent in the chemical group, 0.80 percent in the food group and construction materials group. 0.78 percent, 0.46 percent in the unprocessed materials group and 0.07 percent in the minerals group.
