RILA Has Formed A Coalition To Fight Counterfeit Products Sold On Online Sites

According to the news in Reuters, the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), including giants such as Walmart and Target, has formed a coalition to fight counterfeit products sold on online sites, especially Amazon. The coalition was named "The Buy Safe America". This move came at a time when Amazon was scrutinized by the White House and lawmakers for allegations of counterfeit products.

PROJECT ZERO WAS NOT ENOUGH

The newly formed coalition will lobby for legislation to validate information about third-party merchants selling on platforms like Amazon. In addition to RILA, there are also major organizations such as the Toy Association, the American Apparel and Footwear Association, and the Fashion Team and Accessories Trade Association among those participating in the coalition. Amazon launched Project Zero to detect counterfeit products on its system and remove them from sale. Within the scope of the project, cutting-edge technology systems such as machine learning and product grading are used. However, despite this, the issue of counterfeit products continues to give Amazon a headache, especially in the USA.
