Vitaliy Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, made a heavy accusation against Siemens. "Siemens is not doing the necessary work to solve these problems," Markelov said in a statement in which he said that the gas flow in the Nord Stream has decreased due to the lack of timely maintenance of some equipment and sanctions.
Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom's Board of Directors, told Russian state broadcaster Rossiya-24 that the gas turbine engine sent for maintenance on Nord Stream should have been returned by Siemens in May.
Noting that the engine in question has still not been delivered, Markelov said,
"Questions remain about the delivery of this engine to Russia and the sanctions risks associated with sending other engines for maintenance. Siemens is not doing the necessary work to solve these problems. In order to use the planned capacity of the pipeline, five turbines must be operational and one must be in reserve. Now only one engine is running at the station, the rest have technical failures or are due for maintenance."
