Ryanair may order a Boeing MAX 10 this year
The Irish airline Ryanair could place a significant order for the aircraft of the American concern Boeing MAX 10 this year. But only if it is at a good price, because the airline is not under any time pressure.
This was stated on Monday by its financial director Neil Sorahan.
A large order from Ryanair, Boeing's largest customer, would significantly support the Boeing MAX models, which were grounded for 20 months after two tragic accidents.
Ryanair is already
Europe's largest customer for the Boeing MAX with a fixed order of 210 of the 197-seater MAX200. And he has repeatedly stated that he is interested in a major order for the larger, 230-seater MAX 10 model, which completed its first flight in June.
"Maybe we'll do something at the end of the year. Maybe not. It will all depend on the price," said CFO Sorahan after the airline's results for the past quarter (April-
June) were announced. However, he added that Ryanair is not currently under time pressure and that a possible order would cover the financial year until March 31, 2026, when the current order ends.
Airline director Michael O'Leary O'Leary told investors that orders for Boeing MAX 10 aircraft could be "re-evaluated by the airline at the end of the year."
"We think the MAX 10 is a great aircraft, but you know we're very disciplined at Ryanair, we only place orders when we think the price is good," O'Leary added.
