Commenting on the issue, National Security Council spokesperson Emily Horne said, "We plan to develop a comprehensive approach that addresses all the threats we face. In the coming months, we hope to review specific cases of the risks we face," adding that these threats include risks posed by Chinese applications and other software used in the US.
Trump's Decision Was Suspended
Donald Trump banned the use of the Chinese-based social media platform TikTok when he was president of the United States, but shortly before the decision took effect, a federal court in Washington DC decided to temporarily suspend the ban.
Later, Trump announced that he would sign a possible agreement to sell TikTok's operations in the US to Oracle Corp and Walmart Inc. Following these statements, the US Department of Commerce postponed the TikTok ban, which was planned to be put into effect on September 20, until September 27.
