The Gulf Crisis Has Stopped After Years Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt ended all diplomatic relations with Qatar and imposed an economic embargo on the country on June 5, 2017, on the grounds that it “supported terrorist groups”. Although Qatar did not accept the aforementioned accusations, the situation brought about a crisis in the Gulf region. Years of efforts to end this crisis finally paid off in the first week of 2021. Kuwait Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Mohammed es-Sabah stated that on January 4, an agreement was reached to open land, sea and air borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud announced at the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held in the city of Al-Ula on January 5 that the countries that imposed an embargo on Qatar have reestablished their diplomatic relations with Doha and the embargo has been lifted.
