Saudi Arabia-Qatar Border Opened Years Later

The Saudi Arabia-Qatar border opened years later. Qatarians entering Saudi Arabia were welcomed with flowers. Saudi Arabia opened the Selva Border Gate with Qatar as part of the implementation of the agreement that ended the Gulf crisis. The Al-İhbariyye channel, which belongs to Saudi Arabia, broadcasted images from its Twitter account showing that the Qatarians began to enter Saudi Arabia with the opening of the Selva Border Gate. One of the Qataris who entered Saudi Arabia from the Selvan Border Gate with his own vehicle used the following statements:

“We are coming to our second country. We were more delighted to see that you are happy.”

The citizen of Qatar stated that the practices at the border crossing were very good and the officials welcomed them with flowers.   The Gulf Crisis Has Stopped After Years Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt ended all diplomatic relations with Qatar and imposed an economic embargo on the country on June 5, 2017, on the grounds that it “supported terrorist groups”. Although Qatar did not accept the aforementioned accusations, the situation brought about a crisis in the Gulf region. Years of efforts to end this crisis finally paid off in the first week of 2021. Kuwait Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Mohammed es-Sabah stated that on January 4, an agreement was reached to open land, sea and air borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud announced at the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held in the city of Al-Ula on January 5 that the countries that imposed an embargo on Qatar have reestablished their diplomatic relations with Doha and the embargo has been lifted.       Source: Bloomberg HT
