Shares In The US Have Had Their Worst Week Since March

Shares in the US have had their worst week since March. The rapid spread of the coronavirus, the suspension of negotiations on new incentives and nervousness ahead of next week's presidential election had a negative impact on Wall Street. The key US Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 157.51 points or 0.59% on Friday, closing at 26,501.60 points. The broader S&P 500 fell 1.21% to 3,269.96 points and the Nasdaq Composite technology index rose 2.45% to 10,911.59 points. The Dow Jones weakened by 6.5%, the S&P 500 by 5.6% and the Nasdaq by more than 5% for the whole week. All three indices have had the sharpest weekly decline since March. All three indices also saw their second month-on-month decline in October, with the Dow Jones losing more than 6% and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq down more than 5% each.
