Tourism Industry Is Set To Lose 174 Million Jobs This Year
The global travel and tourism industry is set to lose 174 million jobs this year if current restrictions on halting the spread of coronavirus remain in place. This was pointed out by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).Although the number of vulnerable positions is alarming, it is slightly better than previously estimated, especially given the strong recovery of domestic travel in China and other countries. In June, the WTTC predicted that a pandemic could create 197 million jobs in the global travel and tourism sector. However, there are concerns that a new wave of coronavirus spread, especially in Europe, will hit the sector again. The WTTC added that long-term travel restrictions could wipe the industry's $ 4.7 trillion from the industry's contribution this year.
