Sideways Start to The New Week in Stock Market Sideways start to the new week in stock market. BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul increased by 0.01 percent and opened the week with 1.112.04 points. The BIST 100 index, which gained 0.08 points and 0.01 percent at the beginning of the day, reached 1.112.04 points. While the banking index depreciated by 0.04 percent at the opening; holding index gained 0.09 percent. Among the industry indices, tourism earned the most with 1.03 percent; Financial leasing and factoring declined the most with 0.25 percent. BIST 100 index, which closed the day at 1,111.96 points with 0.12 percent gain in value on the last trading day of the previous week, increased by 0.84 percent weekly. Analyst stated that on Thursday the Central Bank of Turkey’s Board meeting on Monetary Policy, US Federal Reserve Governor Jerome Powell and European Central Bank Governor Christine Lagarde's speeches today and Powell's presentations to the Senate from tomorrow will be monitored. Stating that the data agenda is partially stagnant this week, analysts noted that geopolitical developments and news regarding the new type of coronavirus vaccine will affect investor decisions. From a technical perspective, analysts stated, support of 1.090 level in BIST 100 index and that 1.120 points are in the resistance position.
